Nature enthusiasts throughout the region are participating in a friendly competition with 60+ cities around the world—to see who can document the most plant and animal (and fungi) species in their urban areas. You can join the project as a citizen scientist from April 27th to 30th to observe and note the abundant wildlife that lives in area parks, schools, and neighborhoods—and help Washington DC win!

The 2018 City Nature Challenge will help scientists collect data on the biodiversity of our region—and the planet. Everyone in the metropolitan area with access to a camera and the internet can participate using iNaturalist mobile app and website.
